HELPPP!!!!!!!! (fillings question)?!

Question: If the cavity is really shallow, is anesthesia still required to prevent pain when getting it filled?

What if you have small cavities on a lot of teeth? Do dentists give you local anesthesia for each tooth??

anastesia is required for all fillings trust me the shots do not hurt i got a a deep fillling yeser day firtst they numb the area up with some minty cream(or differnt flavor if u want) then they give it a little shot it helps if you close your eyes and for a mist in your hand and bring an ipod/mp3 cause they might take some time but since yours is shallow it'll tke like 30min so good luck and belve it wont hirt and it wont and it doesnt so lol good luck

and if the smal cavitys on close to eachother they just give u on shot but if its on differnt sides its required to do 2 shots and most likely they wont fill the really really small cavitys.

Trust me, you want the anesthesia! An open hole in your tooth will be painful until they get it filled. Some people, though, don't use it...it would depend on your dentist.

The shot usually doesn't hurt and just to be sure ask if they use a topical numbing solution before the shot. If you're very fearful don't be afraid to ask for nitrous. I usually get it during procedures because sitting in the dental chair makes me nervous. It won't numb you or put you to sleep but you won't care what is going on around you. Believe me, if your office offers it (barring any medical contraindications) they'll be happy to supply it. It makes everyone more at ease when a nervous patient is taken care of.
