What is expected after a tooth extraction? Do you get pain medication to help if!

Question: I'm getting a tooth pulled and i'm frightened.

Answers: I'm getting a tooth pulled and i'm frightened.

It's not painful during and after the process... at least it wasn't for me. I have my top baby tooth pulled out. You can feel the tooth wiggle, but it doesn't hury. Once it comes out, they make you stick a cotton thing in your mouth because of the blood. The blood will probably stop after a day or two. Take medicine if it hurts. Eating will be difficult... try liquids like soup. Your mouth might become more spitty though. I just leaned over the sink and let the spit come out on its on.

You'll have novacaine and won't feel a thing. You will have pain medication afterwards, but you might not need it. Don't be scared.

You generally are given a mild pain killer to deal with post op pain. If the extraction is due to an infected tooth you may have more pain and possibly require an anti-biotic.
Most importantly talk with your Dr. Don't hesitate to call the office and discuss your fears. They may feel some anti-anxiety medication is in order prior to your visit.
