Is sensitivity to hot foods/drinks always a sign that a root canal is needed?!

Question:

Is sensitivity to hot foods/drinks always a sign that a root canal is needed?

Could the sensitivity be caused by something else? Or am I doomed to need a root canal? This pain is coming from a tooth that was just filled in March!! Thanks so much :0)

Thanks for all the input so far! I've been using Crest Sensitivity for a little over a week and it has helped a little bit. I also sometimes get a sharp pain when I bite down on just one tooth. What could cause that? I know I've asked this question a couple of times...I just want to see what kind of answers I get until I see my dentist on the 7th!

Answers:

no, It just means your food/drink is to hot to eat
