Going to the Dentist! Questions?!
Question: I'm going to the dentist. I have a small cavity on the front tooth. Its small and I'm really LAZY! So will it only take 1 appointment to get the filling? Or will it take more?
Like most people, I HATE, ABSOLUTELY HATE Novacaine shots. I think music will calm me down, do all dentist allow an Ipod or MP3 player while they are drill my tooth?
I have 3 rooth canals done on me. And Its filled with silver. I heard that the silver fillnigs can "go bad" and it needs to be replaced. Do I have to go back to my original dentist that put the fillings in to replace it or can I just go the my new dentist to replace the filling?

Yes, you can take your ipod or mp3. It depends, they may have to check your tooth before doing a filling. Silver fillings can go bad over the years, just like other fillings. Your new dentist can check them to see if they are ok, but any tooth with a root canal should have a crown on it to prevent breakage and tooth loss.
You can go to a new dentist. In fact, your new dentist would prefer that you did.
The varous dentist offices I've been in all play music. Novacaine has been improved and doesn't have all the side effects it used to, nor the lingering numb lips and tongue thing. Silver fillings are replaced with porcelain. Any dentist can do that. Dentists don't allow patients to bring in their own electronic equipment. Relax.
