Tooth question...?!

Question: I had a root canal about a month ago.. afterwards they filled it with 1 filling and 1 temp crown..(which i have in now).. well i have to go back the 21st of this month and get my perm crown.. but my question is.. my tooth hasnt been hurting.. the gum right above my temp crown has.. i was supposed to go back like 2 weeks ago but didnt have the money then.. Is it supposed to be uncomfortable? It doesnt really hurt but if i press a little on my gum it hurts.. (but the tooth itself doesnt).. has it been left in there too long?

temporary crowns are not intended to be a perfect fit and most of them do infringe on the gum tissue setting up an irritation. Waiting to long to get your permanent crown could cost you both some gum tissue and gum bone..Gum bone doesn't like irritation and will back away from it and when it does it takes the gum tissue with it....you need to get your Perm crown ASAP...Good luck and I wish you well.
