that all depends on your age and the position of you wisdom teeth. my wisdom teeth were impacted and i had iv sedation. didn't feel a thing. had them removed when i was 17. when having wisdom teeth pulled, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or iv sedation is not a bad idea. the doctor will prescribe pain medication according to the difficulty of the procedure. some wisdom teeth take a little more effort to remove. i wouldn't worry too much. just make sure you don't smoke or use a straw 2-5 days after the procedure. also, no swish rinsing or spitting the same day of the procedure. the next day, rinsing with salt water is very soothing. the doctor or his assistant will give you post operative instructions. in answer to your question, it is not necessarily a painful procedure. just follow the instructions and you should be fine. also, the staff will b more than happy to answer any of your concerns.
