Why do dentists demand a root canal be made before a crown is put on a tooth?!
Question:
Why do dentists demand a root canal be made before a crown is put on a tooth?
Before there were root canal procedures, people got crowns on teeth that needed them and they held just perfect. There was no need to destroy the life-giving nerve to the tooth that a root canal involves. Now these greedy dentists demand root canals before a crown is put on IN EVERY INSTANCE, not just in certain instances where the root canal "might" help. It looks like just another evidence of their greedy appetites
Answers:
I think it's because once the crown is on there and you do develop decay or infection, they have to destroy the crown and end up doing a root canal anyway. On the other hand, I have had a dentist tell me I needed a root canal and I went to another dentist and told him that, and he told me in no uncertain terms I did NOT need a root canal and he looked really annoyed that some dentists would do this.
I guess the best thing I can tell you is find a dentist that does good dental work that you can trust. If you're not sure, get a second opinion.
