Hi, I live in Ireland - can I ask the dentist to remove most of my teeth?!

Question: They are really awful - yellow and brown stained. I'm on the medical card so would not qualify for cosmetic treatment. Anybody ever do this?

I worked as a dental nurse in Northen Ireland and we used to get alot of Rep of Ireland patients up doin this sort of thing.
Yes you could do it but it takes some time because the dentist cant pull out all you teeth at the same time(it would be wayyy to sore), so theres the time factor, price factor (very expensive if you replace them with the now very popular porcelin veeners, you do get a beautiful end product though).

Seriously think about it, and make sure you get a good dentist whos knows what he's doing...dentists in the republic (if not in the big citys) have a rep for not being that great. We used to get lots of costumers from the rep..inc celebs!!!

Check out the surgery its White Rose Dental Clinic in Derry Northern Ireland....the dentist their is called Dr Dan Mckenna and he is a specialist in implants and teaches and trains dentists all over the world.

Don't be so silly. If they bother you that much, save up for a whitening treatment!

I strongly doubt ANY dentist will agree to remove healthy teeth. IF they do, they aren't qualified dentists.

why don't you ask for whiting.

You can ask, but i don't think you should. Ask what do you think is the best solution.
If you pay for treatment they would reccommend something else rather than if you were on the free NHS

Hmmmm. Why would you ask him to remove teeth? Do u not think this would look a lot worse?

If your teeth are really stained....so what, he can clean them and remove stains. Have u actually asked ur dentist? u really shud and dont be scared.

Having no teeth would be a lot worse than stained teeth.

Or u cud apply to something like inside and out and get veneers on ur teeth for free, I wish i cud do that!

And.......stop smoking.

Dentists are there to save teeth - I think that regardless of how much you beg one to take all your teeth out (especially if they are not decayed) they wouldn't agree to do it.

Extraction for a dentist is the last resort. Many problems occur when you don't have your own teeth and dentures are VERY difficult to get used to and can never be as good as your own teeth.

Why not go and ask about bleaching or veneers, unfortunately both are considered cosmetic, which is unfortunate if you can't afford to pay privately.

Sorry.

I don't reccommend you to remove all of your teeth. you can get them whitened but I believe it will cost you several hundred euro. You should really brush your teeth at least twice a day.

Don't ask the dentist to remove your teeth, but go get them checked up. He'll tell you what to do.

Why would you want to do this??? Surely there are alternatives you could explore. Talk to your dentist about whitening treatments, and other possibilities. Removing teeth is very drastic and wearing dentures has its own complications.

If you're on the medical card, make an appointment to see the dentist. He'll give you a check up & refer you to a hygienist. They can clean your teeth for you & take away all the staining. Is there a reason why they are so bad?

i have got my front 5 out,and fot fake ones in,all i did was go to the dentist and ask him to do it,and he did, well it was over a period of a few weeks

i used the medical card
