Retainer question! If I just got mine, can I go 4 hrs without wearing one while at work? i do a lot of talking
and know that this will create some problems with the lisp I have suddenly developed. :(

but my shifts are usually only 4 hrs long so will this be fine?
Answers:
A rule of thumb for retainers is that if you put it in your mouth and it feels tight then you need to be wearing it more often. So, if after four hours you put it in your mouth and it feels passive then you should be okay. Also, a lot of people can be "weaned" off the retainers and only have to then wear them at night. This also might be an option for you. If all else fails you should phone your dentist/orhtodontist and ask what their protocol is. They can all be different.
