An abcess (I think that's what you mean) is when the root of your tooth gets infected, your face swells, and it hurts *alot*.
Fear not. Most dentists are very gentle and numb everything with a topical anesthetic before any needles come out; usually if you feel like you're re-sensitizing they'll give you more novicaine.
It won't be comfortable, for sure, but you'll be happy you went when that abcess goes away.
