I chew the ice in my drinks, could it damage my teeth??!

Question: I'm just afraid. double checking

Answers: I'm just afraid. double checking

I don't think the Ice will damage them as long as you don't have any cavities and strong enamel...but the drink might...To keep your teeth white and healthy, drink all beverages that have sugar or acids through a straw. Like soda (even diet soda has acids) or juice...oh and coffee
Also I just found out that milk has quiet a bit of sugar. Who knew?

If you're pregnant and your teeth chip it's because you're not getting enough calcium in your diet.

Yes. My molars have sharp places in them where they were actually broken by ice that I chewed when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. My dentist told me that the ice is what caused them.

I used to chew on a lot of popsycles when I was growing up. My teeth are cracked from top to bottom. nuff said.

I am not positive but I would say that it can. I do know that chewing ice is a sign of iron deficiency. Might want to look into it. Don't be worried or afraid though. Good luck!

I am a dentist. Yes ice will break your teeth. Your teeth are crystalline in structure like glass. If you apply too much force it will shatter, even without cavities. I see people every week that have chronic oral fixations, such as ice chewing, pen cap chewing etc. They all show wear patterns and have fracture lines in their teeth. These eventually progress and fracture large portions of the teeth off, especially in teeth that have fillings in them. Ice is very hard and will break your teeth very easily. Chew sugar-free gum instead to break your habit, if you don't by the time you are in your 40's you will regret it because by then most your teeth will need to have been crowned.
