Will a sealant cover the stain on my tooth and do sealants go on top teeth to?!

Question:

Will a sealant cover the stain on my tooth and do sealants go on top teeth to?

i have stains in the grooves of a couple of my teeth so will he mainly fill those ones or it just depends?

Answers:

Stains should be removed before sealants are placed. Sealants are placed on the occlusal portion of the teeth (where the grooves and cusps are). The dentist usually cleans the surface of the tooth with pumice and a brush, prepares the tooth for the sealant by "etching" and the sealant is then brushed on the tooth. The stains you have on your teeth might not be stains but cavities, so have your dentist examine them first.
