I had braces on all my teeth growing up. It doesn't take too long for the dentist to glue them in place. The pain comes a little later after he's tightened things up and your mouth gets that "dull ache." But just think, your smile will look great in the end!
hell yeah its like getting a needle stabbed into your jaw but you don't feel that until after the surgery is over with. But it would probably be about an hour. And if your gap is huge then you would have to wear them probably for lyk two or three months if its small three wks at the most.

i have braces but im not wearing braces to get my teeth straight but to get the front jaw back and my back jaw forward: so i wear small elastic bands. I got the elastic bands today and i got my braces tightened as well and it hurts. Though it only hurts for a week and after it doesnt. My orthodontist took like 20mins to put all my brackets on each tooth. The thing is, with removable braces, you can remove them and you have the urge to especially when it hurts which is usually whne you just get them. I have removable retainers but i didnt wear them all the time so i needed to wear them a lot longer than planned.
