Answers:

It shouldn't be too bad. It's not like getting all four out in the seventies (like when I had mine done). Today, it's less invasive. Alot will depend on whether they have come through the gum yet. If you can see the teeth, it will be a breeze. You'll have a little swelling, maybe a stitch or two, some pain but the pain killers will take care of that. You'll be too tender to eat solids for a few days but you'll be able to drink fluids. By the second day, you probably will be able to start a soft diet of pudding, jello, eggs etc... also I suggest you stick with non-acidic drinks. AND NO SODA! The carbonation may irritate and remove the blood clots that needs to form. Also, don't drink anything through a straw. The suction can also remove the clot and then you'll get a dry socket. You don't even want to go there, it's painful and you'll have to have medicated strips of cloth shoved into the gum to prevent infection. If you are having oral surgery because all the teeth are below the gum line, expect more swelling, pain, and more stitches. But still, it can be controlled with pain medication. It will help to apply ice packs to your cheeks to reduce the swelling. Don't worry too much about doing the correct things, your Dentist will give you a complete list of after-care instructions. Just follow those and you'll do just fine! Good luck. Oh, one more thing. Don't take any aspirin a week before your extractions, it will thin your blood, making you bleed easier and you don't want that! Take care.
