Canker sore or abscess?!

Question: I am really unsure of what this is.. it is a small bump on my upper gums, basically on the gums of my teeth. I can chew on that side of my mouth but I am trying not to so whatever it is can heal.
Isn't anything sexually transmitted and I believe the tooth it is nearest too has a cavity filling in it.
Since I have noticed it.. it hasn't gotten bigger. Which was about 2 days ago.
I have been doing salt water rinses. Any other ideas?

It might be a gum inflammation. continue with salt and water it should go away.

if it looks like an ulcer it is a canker sore, if it looks like a whitehead pimple, it is called a fistula which is from having an abcess. the abcess tries to find a way out and it usually happens through the path of least resistance which is the gum tissue. it may pop and ooze out pus if it is this, then you will need a root canal to drain the infection.
if it is a canker sore, it will usually go away 7-10 days, but the warm water and salt is the best. i also recommend to dab a q-tip in peroxide and swab it a few times a day, it will help to clear it up. don't be afraid to eat or brush, unless you are in terrible pain, just go easy.
