okay. in febuary, i got a rootcanal on the tooth next to the big one on the top left (in front). well, then in march, i got a filling on it to make the texture normal i guesss. well, i woke up this morning at 6:30 to find a piece of that tooth in my mouth! what do i do about this because, now that part of my tooth is sharp.

if i go to the dentist, what can they do?

i don't think my filling fell out because they said that if that happened, i would know because it would hurt. but after i got the root canal, they said that the tooth was pretty much dead..... i'm just wondering because, how often does part of a tooth fall out?

I'm no dentist, but have had a couple of root canals done plus enough fillings and chipped teeth to be sort of knowledgeable in these things.
Your root canal did deaden the tooth, there is no nerve there any more...so no pain. It does sound like the filling did maybe crack and fall off. I would make an appointment with the dentist that did the work...tell them what happened and with any luck, they will fix the problem with no charge to you.
