Baby teeth question?!

Question:

Baby teeth question?

May sound like a mad question this. but my kid is 12 and has a few baby teeth left. and one pop out tonight. and its been years since she last lost one so i can not remeber. but do baby teeth have roots ?, this tooth has none its just come out flat were u normaly find a root and im a bit worried if the root is still inside if they have them.

Answers:

You have nothing to worry about. Baby teeth have roots while they are anchored into the bone. The baby roots help guide the adult teeth into the proper place. If a adult tooth grows out of place then a lost baby tooth may have a root attached to it. The adult teeth how ever cause the baby roots to reabsorb into the bone, so they are typically not there when the tooth is lost and all you will see is the top portion of the tooth. That is actually a good thing. Even if a root were to 'break' it is common for it to surface it's self, and the body will elevate the remaining root tip out, rare occasions do require that you see a profession to have it taken out. But do not worry :}
