Braces...advice please?!

Question: I'm 26, and I've never had braces. My teeth are crooked, but sometimes I think I'm too old to get braces.

What do you think? How much do the clear braces cost?

Also, I'm just graduating and looking for my first career job. Do you think having braces would make this harder?

Sounds like me and you are in the same boat. Or were in the same boat. I'm your age and I finally decided that I was going to do something about my crooked teeth.

The good thing is more and more adults are going to the orthodontist to straighten their teeth. The other good thing is you have more options now than you used to. Talk to your dentist. He/she will recommend an orthodontist. Schedule a consult with the ortho. They're usually free. Make sure you see an ortho who's Invisalign accredited. Tell the ortho what you're not happy with and what you want done. The ortho should give you an idea/estimate of what it might cost and how long it'll take. The next time, they'll take X-rays, photos, and molds. That'll cost you some money.

I chose Invisalign. I personally didn't want the metal in my mouth. That's just me. I like it that it's less noticeable and it's up to me to wear the aligners. And I only have to go back to the ortho every 6 weeks to pick up my new aligners. My total treatment plan is 7 months. 14 aligners and change them every 2 weeks. I'm on number 5 now. Cost is $3500. Cost depends on how bad your teeth are. The more crooked they are, the more aligners you'll need which means more expensive. Invisalign is usually more expensive but faster than regular braces.

As for a job, it might help. Look at it this way. It'll be a year with braces/Invisalign. A year of discomfort/feeling awkward for the rest of your life of straight teeth. If you did nothing, people who do the hiring might wonder and look at your crooked teeth and think you should fix them. If you've got braces, you're getting them fixed. It shows you're trying to improve yourself.

It's also kinda funny when you're in the waiting room of the ortho's office. Because it's usually you and a bunch of 12 year olds.

You are never too old to have braces. Using the Invisalign would be determined by them or your dentist after a consult and models are made from your impression. If you need serious movement it may be best for you to use the traditional method of orthodontics. As for seeking a job, no one really looks at orthodontic work as a deciding factor in any position. Having orthodontic work actually makes you look more attentive and conscious of your own needs, which could make you appear the same about your work. It can actually be a good deciding factor, bad teeth can turn an interviewer off, costing you a good job.

Invisiline cost the same as traditional braces.

Braces are so worth it! i got clear braces, but be warned, they do cost more than regular ones. And, the orthodontist may only put them on the first six teeth on the top, unless they put them on the entire top. they don't get put on the bottom. if you're worried about the cost, maybe a special payment plan can be set up for you at your orthodontist's office. Clear braces also vary on cost, depending if your get the first six or all the top teeth done, and they will also vary by the orthodontist. also talk to your orthodontist about other options, clear retainers, invisalign, or lingual braces (braces on the backs of your teeth, so no one notices them. they do cost a bit more though! Damon braces may also be a consideration. I've seen people much older than you (like in their 50's) with braces. go for it! your teeth will last longer, and it will improve your bite and digestion. You also will have a million dollar smile! i have braces, and i get them off in September. i am so excited! I've had them for almost two years, and they haven't caused me much discomfort at all. just remember to take some Tylenol before each appointment (if you're getting them tightened). It helps so much! you also have a good excuse to eat JELLO!!! Good luck! here's a site about Damon braces, which are supposed to be really good, and a wiki site about braces treatment in general. Good luck! i hope this helps you to make your choice! I don't think that it will make it harder to get a job. I've seen people your age working with braces.

of course you are not to old! it's never to late to get that perfect smile! i'm currently 13 on my 2nd year of braces. they do not hurt at all and are much faster than invisilign. also the invisalign do not work well and can even mess your teeth up worse! go with the metal braces, for faster results, and you wont have anything poking in your gums. also, braces are now more common, and guys are actually, believe it or not, attracted to braces more~

dosnt matter how old you are! ohh and you could still get your career job your braces wont matter!! the cost of the braces is not too high!!! i think you should get braces!!

if you do get your braces be careful when choosing the color of your braces!!! sometimes after you get them you wont like the color!!!
