What do you do with REALLY thin lower gums?!

Question: I have really really thin gums on my lower teeth and always have since I was little. I'm 20 now and they are getting really bad. It scares me because my mom has them too. Her's are so thin that she nearly has one tooth falling out and she's having surgery done to put an extra piece of fat there. Any advice for what I can do???

Thanks!

The best person to talk to would be a dental specialist called a periodontist. They specialize in the tissue (gums and bone) around teeth. A periodontist could examine what you have in your mouth and go over your options with you. I would see a specialist and not your general dentist....a periodontist has spends all their time worrying about gums and bones and would be able to help you....
