My filling fell out!!?!

Question: I was flossing and My filling fell out!!! The filling is on my molar and it is on the "seam" of my other tooth. This is why I think I popped it out when flossing! Anyways, it dosent hurt yet but, should I try to stuff it with cotton, or guaze? I want to get to the dentist soon but don't want the pain to start before I get there!! Oh Yay and Im pregnant too, so not sure what they will give me at the dentist either. will they still give me novacane??
Thanks!

Don't try to stuff it, just keep it extra clean and don't forget to floss. It won't start to hurt anytime soon unless it is a very deep filling that comes close to the nerve, and if it was you would have known BEFORE it came out. Yes your dentist will still give you novo when youre pregnant, but no nitrous or sedative so hopefully you're not a chicken like me. When you go in, tell them you're preg so they will not make you lie flat on your back (you'll feel lightheaded and have trouble breathing after about 15 mins.) I went through this exact thing two weeks ago, and just got in to have it fixed yesterday, I'm 35 weeks so I wanted to get it fixed and not be in the hospital giving birth with a broken tooth. Hopefully you have a good dentist, mine fractured the tooth they were supposed to fix, so one problem is solved and another one started. *sigh* So hard to find good providers these days... Hope this helps!

yes

get a dentist appointment and go to the pharmacy they sell temporary fillings

Is your tooth still where the filling is? If it is in the filling and the tooth isn't there anymore, do not worry. It will be fine!

There is a emergency dental kit you can get at Walmart and most drug stores to temporarily put a filling into the place where the filling fell out. This will help until you can get to the dentist. I had to have extensive emergency work done while I was pregnant.

oh
my
WORD.
my heart goes out to you.
depends on how far enough along you are before they will give novocaine.

Keep it very clean! Brush often. Gargle too. Make sure you tell them you're pregnant before any xrays are taken. They will ask.

no you should go to your dentist immediately

ouch! pregnancy is bad on the teeth thats probably why it came out! I think they still give you injections at the dentist don't worry :)
good luck with the baby!

Usually, unless the nerve is exposed (and you would know that by now) there won't be any pain until you can get into the dentist. Just try to eat on the other side, and get an appointment as soon as possible. The filling may have been loose anyway. Being pregnant is also a good reason to have your teeth taken care of, as sometimes the baby can take your calcium. I know of no reason why you would not be able to have novacaine. But your dentist would be the best judge of that. If the tooth should become sensitive before you can get to the dentist, there is a product that you can buy at Walmart, etc. to fill in the hole with a temporary filling until you can see the dentist.

Ok I just had this exact thing happen to me last week. Goto your local walgreens or drugstore and goto the toothpaste isle. They have a product I forget what its called but its a temporary filling. It's like some putty stuff that you shove in the hole and let it set for like an hour. You can't really chew on that side otherwise it falls out. But it does protect it from getting food or anything else in it. Get that and make an appointment ASAP!

Got to your dentist, they will know what to do...don't worry about it, just pick an appointment asap. If your pregnant, be sure to inform them, they will know what to do!
Good Luck!

You should go quick. Mine fell out, and one night i was chewing something, and my tooth chipped, and now I have to get a root canal...Go fast!

Mine fell out too a while ago I didnt think too much of it and nothing happend I just went to the dentist a day later...so I guess justgo to the dentist tommorow or soemthing

Don't stuff it with anything. Be extra diligent with keeping that area clean this weekend, and probably would be best to chew on the other side. Avoid really hard or sticky foods the rest of this weekend, to prevent possibly damaging the tooth with the missing filling. See if you can get into your dentist on Monday. If you are in your second or third trimester, it is no problem having routine dental work done. If it is your first trimester, your dentist may want to place a temporary filling until your second trimester.

Don't bother with the temporary filling stuff from the drugstore, especially if you're going to the dentist early next week. I've had people come in with it all over their teeth and it's a pain to clean out in order to place a new filling.

You could probably give your dentist a call (in the morning) if you're still worried.

um i have no idea. i feel for you though. that must really suck. but my sister said that all three of hers fell out and that hers dont bother her. she didnt even go back to the dentist. so idk.

get to your denist ASAP and make sure to keep the area clean by brushing several times a day. It sucks this is a weekend now but good luck anyway.

walgreens also.

they have a temp filling you can put in
til you get to the dentist.

What people said above is right. You can get a temporary filling kit. There is maximum strength painkiller, but I don't think it would work on nerve pain. You look for Lidocaine first, then Benzocaine and you want the highest percentage.

I think I got Novocaine when I was pregnant. I had a root canal and then I had to go to an endodontist because my gum was still infected. I had to get my root trimmed. That was nearly as painful as giving birth.

Have it repaired before it starts hurting. Do not know what they will give you for pain to do the repair. Might have to have it repaired without pain reliever cause your pregnant...
