Braces Question!?!

Question: I just got both top and bottom braces. My top teeth only need a little adjusting but my bottom teeth have 2 gaps and need some straightening so they will need a lot more work done on them. The ortho only said that I will need them on for about a year but when I saw a specialist for my bottom teeth he said they will probably need to be on longer for the bottom. If my top teeth are finished before my bottom will the othro take off my top braces before my bottoms or will I have to just have the top ones in while waiting for my bottom teeth to shift all the way? Has anyone ever had their tops taken off before the bottoms or vise versa? Thanks for the help!

yes actually I am getting my top ones of in exactly one week I have the same problem, I asked my orthodontists if they were going to leave one set and take off the others and he said that he can easily take of one set and leave the others, he also said that if he left the top ones on any longer than the would crowd together again, I don't think it will be a problem.
Good luck, hope your teeth turned out okay!

he'll probably just leave the top on while still fixing your bottom braces w/o touching your top ones. i've never seen someone with only bottom braces and not top, only top without a bottom.

yeah i did its going to be fine and easier when you brush and my teeth are like cicular clean rings, Just perfect.

Nope! If your top is aligned and looking good the orthodontist can take it off and allow the bottom to continue with braces.

It is possible they will remove the top before the bottom, it just depends on how things progress.

depending on what needs to be shifted in a certain direction, you might need both braces on the whole time. the rubber bands need both the top and bottom braces to hook to!
though if its just closing the gap, and not moving all the teeth forward or backward (as in correcting an over or under bite) you might be able to get your top braces off before.

yup, if theyre done like way before, he'll prob take off the tops and youll just have bottoms, my friend had this done too.,

I just got my braces taken out today, but my orthodontist left just 4 brackets on top until Thursday, I think your braces should come out at the same time but I have seen people that have taken the bottom or the top off and they had to wait a little while (a month or two) until they could take the other part off. I think its normal.
Good Luck. =)

It is possible to have ur top breaces remove before the bottom one is remove because i saw lots of people with just the top with one brace

Yes, he'll take the top ones off if he thinks your top teeth are straight enough. You'll just have the bottom ones on until the treatment is over. A lot of people have only the top or only the bottom. My friend also have bottom braces, because her top teeth were straight.
