TMD? Should I bother checking it out?!

Question: I'm guessing around 6-ish years ago, the right side of my jaw would on occasion start popping. It wasn't that bad until I got braces. I just got them off 4 days ago after wearing them for 3 1/2 years. It's still not terribly frequent, but when it does pop it hurts pretty bad and it goes on for a long time. I believe my record was 23 times in a row. I never try and pop it, and as far as I know, I'm not a real jaw grinder. Sometimes it's more of a popping sound and sometimes it's more like a crunch. I'm guessing it's likely TMD, but should I bother getting it looked at?

I have the same problem...and braces def. made mine worse. it sounds like u def. have it, but the trick is not to increase the popping. i never got mine check by a specialist because insurance doesnt always cover it and it is very expensive so dont make it worse. and u probably grind ur teeth at night so u might consider a night guard, but i asked my physician about it and he said dont do anything to increase it, but it definately sucks when you yawn.

YOU MAY INDEED HAVE TMJD AND YOU OUGHT TO A FAVOR TO YOURSELF AND HAVE A DENTIST CHECK IT OUT.
