HALITOSIS CAN BE DUE TO SEVERAL FACTORS. IT MAY BE OF DENTAL SOURCE OR ANOTHER HEALTH PROBLEM, EG, STOMACH, LIVER, ETC.

Halatosis is a type of "disease" that gives off bad breath. Send them a note without and return address.

Breath smells because the mouth is putting smell into it on it's way out. If his breath literally smells like snot, he likely coughs a lot and gets phlegm on the back of his tongue and such.

It can be from halitosis, or simply just a lack of water. Tell them to drink more water and keep the mouth moisturised rather then dry.

There is not allot on the market that will really kill halitosis... there are too many pockets in the mouth where bacteria can hide..... Mouth washes are temporary.gum and mints are temporary.
I went to the dentist and told him I have clean looking teeth and that the little thread they have me clean under my bridge with is not doing allot of good.. He provided me with a powerful mouth wash . I used it for a month and then went to the oral hygenist and she said this mouth wash would turn my teeth brown if I use it continously...
So where is the answer/
PS infection in the mouth does smell terrible

Halitosis can have a number of causes. Most bad breath originates from the mouth. It can be caused by decaying teeth or gum disease, or more often poor oral hygiene which allows food particles to remain between the teeth allowing bacteria to grow. the tongue is also a leading cause of bad breath because food particles collect and bacteria live right at the back of the tongue. If his breath smells like snot, he also might have sinus problems giving him a constant drip of phlegm down the back of his throat.
I don't envy you having to speak to him but his best course of action would be to visit his dentist who would probably be able to identify the cause of his breath problem and hopefully sort it out. In the meantime he could try improving his dental hygiene, flossing and brushing thoroughly and gargling with diluted hydrogen peroxide as that kills off the smelly bacteria in the mouth.
