Can the dentist do something about this?!

Question: When I was 12 or 13 I had 3 premolars extracted before I got braces. After the braces, you can barely see where the teeth were, but in the upper right quadrant there is a small gap between my first premolar and my first molar - EVERY time I eat I get food stuck in the gap, and I have to floss so many times a day that the gum is constantly painful. Could I ask my dentist to put some kind of a filling to close the gap?

JEN,
A COMPOSITE RESTORATION CAN BE ADDED TO EITHER TOOTH TO CLOSE THE SPACE,
BUT THE ORTHODONTIST WHO DID YOUR BRACES SHOULD HAVE NOT ALLOWED A SPACE SO LARGE TO REMAIN AFTER THE BRACES WERE REMOVED.

I would ask the next time you're in there, or just call the office someday.
Surely they can do something :)
