Why do I have pain BETWEEN my back teeth? What could be some reasons?!

Question: I have pain between two teeth. I have never experienced pain in my teeth before (except when I had to get my tooth out as a child, ofcourse) so I really have no clue why it hurts. I do take care of my teeth and I do floss daily so it's not possible that some food was in there for a long time that it hurt the gums. What could the reason be?

Well, even though you floss there could still be a popcorn kernel or something stuck inbetween them. We had a patient that was having that problem and the dentist had to use his explorer to get it out because floss wasnt working. You could also have an interproximal cavity, which means between the teeth. That is very common as well. Even though you take good care of your teeth, a cavity could still be possible. You might also have inflamed gums from flossing too hard or too deep. I would first try brushing, gently flossing, listerine rinses and warm salt water rinses. If that doesnt work after a couple of days, I would go see a dentist to make sure you dont have a cavity. Hope that helps!
