Sorry to say that, but as you have propably figured it out by now, your dentist has injured the nerve responsible for sensation in this part, either the "Inferior Alveolar nerve" or "the Buccal nerve" maybe both, only by examinig you we could be able to tell which nerve exactly was injured!.

And yes this is one of the complications that can sometimes happen, but if the dentist is more experienced he should be able to avoid it, thats why you shouldn't get your wisdom teeth pulled out except by a maxillofacial surgeon, who is a specialised dentist

I realy hope you are adapting, it must be awfull feeling numb all the time!.Good luck and I wish you wellWww@Answer-Health@Com

You should probably check with an attorney and see if it is to late!. You may have time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell you what let's have a short discussion about want most likely happened and then lets see what happens from there!. (1)!.!.it's possible the dentist damaged the nerve trunk with the needle when he administered the anesthetic or (2) if a wisdom tooth had !.let's just call it a crooked root!.!.!.if that was the case it's possible the crooked root tore the nerve trunk!.!.!.Generally the dentist has an Xray that tells where the root is in relationship with the nerve trunk, and if the root is in a precarious position the Dentist would normally split the tooth and take it out in pieces to avoid damaging the nerve trunk!.!.!.!.Having said all that, let me say this, damaged nerves regenerate at a very slow rate and it's possible you will regain your feeling!. I would suggest however that you get an appointment with a Neurologist to find out if the nerve is permanently damaged or if it's possibly impinged and that is what is causing the numbness your feeling!. If it's impinged you may be able to have that corrected!. Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
