What do orthodontic braces feel like, especially for an adult?!

Question: What do orthodontic braces feel like, especially for an adult!?
I'm 26 and this Wednesday I'm going to be starting the orthodontic process!.
What should I expect pain-wise!? Should I take Tylenol before I go in!? What kind of foods can I eat afterwards!? I have family coming in 3 days after they put the actual braces on, plus I have a 3 year old, so family friendly foods are a must!.
Thanks in advance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am an orthodontic assistant and we suggest taking extra strength tylenol before you go in and for the next 3-4 days which is the usual amount of time your teeth will be sore!. You can eat anything after, just be careful it is not something that could damage your braces!. The first 3 days or so you will probably want to stick to a softer diet because the pressure of chewing harder items may be too painful!. Hope this helps some!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're just getting braces put on, it won't hurt much at all!. That is, until you try to eat something!. For me, it took a couple of weeks before I was able to bite into something hard (On the first day, I couldn't even eat a bit of soft bread)!. have soup for the first few days, and then slowly build up to harder things!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

How will braces feel at your age you ask!?!?!? The answer to that is somewhat like asking "How High Is Up!?"!.!.!.I can assure you you will feel "some" pressure on the teeth!. You will feel "some" odd sensations in the gums and you will feel "Some" possible discomfort for two to five day's!.!.!.To what level these feelings will be isn't predictable!.!.!.What hurts like hades to me may be nothing more than a slight annoyance to you!. I can tell you from having been in the dental field many ,many years, I don't recall any one saying the discomfort level wasn't tolerable!.!.!.!.As for foods, you need to consider foods that aren't overly chewy, sticky or hard!.!.!.Example: Meatloaf is a very good choice meat wise!. Cooked veggies is another and pastas work very well!.!.!.!.Bread, especially fresh bread can be a real difficult food to eat as it will tends to stick to every tiny area of the braces it can get a hold on!.!.!.!.Now, if you don't have one, let me suggest that you get your self a "Water Pik"!.!.!.tooth brushing will still be your primary tooth cleaning practice, but a Water Pik will really come in handy getting to the places a brush can't, which will be numerous while the braces are in place!. Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
