I have them too - for the second time!! I didn't wear my retainer when I got them off in 8th grade and my teeth shifted over the years and now I am 27 with braces -- how embarresing - do what they say!!

They do have "spring" you can have put in instead of wearing "rubberbands" now!. Since they are always in they work much faster because pressure is always being applied - plus there is no weird digging in your mouth with your figers at the lunch table!.

Try to keep your appointments on schedule!. Every time you miss and reschedule that pushes you back a bit!. It can add up over time!.

As for my "saving grace"!? -- it is these small toothpick brushes -- you can buy them at Walgreens or your Orthodonist may give them to you -- it makes a small cleaning after a meal easy if you can't brush!.

And just once more --- if you don't wear your retainer after all this hard work you may end up back at square one (and paying for it yourself!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had braces for 5 years!. they hurt a lot for the first week or so and hurt every time you get them tightened!. you will probably have to wear rubber bands that attach to your braces!. ALWAYS WEAR THEM! i never wore them and thats why i had them on for so long!. so yeah, wear the rubber bands!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, i don't know of anything that could get them off quicker, but to avoid having them on for longer, try to avoid sugary and/or hard foods!. Also, brush everyday and everynight!. That's all i can suggest!.

Also, after a short while they won't hurt anymore, it's just when you first have them on!. After your teeth have made their main movements, it'll feel totally natural!.!.

well the only thing you really can do is make sure you don't eat hard foods chew gum or anything like that and brush them like twice to three times a day because i take care of mines and my dentist said that i should get them off early because they're working really good because of how i take care of themWww@Answer-Health@Com

All I did was suck it up because it did hurt a lot for the first few weeks and after adjustments but you'll adjust to it and it will be manageable!. I guess you can take some Tylenol or Advil if you can't stand the pain!. Any other appliances and rubber bands should be work as much as they have told you!. Just cooperate with them and it will minimize your time in braces!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best advice I can give is; do exactly what your orthadontist tells you!. Do not miss an appointment! If he tells you to wear rubber bands, do it! If you try to convince him to take them off earlier than he suggests, your teeth may move!. It may take a couple of years but you will see negative results if rushed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, I suggest getting a water pick, probably cost about $50-60 bucks but totally worth it!. Brush after every meal and water pick before you go to bed!.!.!.you will be amazed at what your toothbrush leaves behind!. And I don't know why it works but the ortho said that clean teeth move faster!.!.!.but it's true, because I could tell a difference when I didn't use my water pick!.
Wear everything they tell you as much as they tell you because if you don't it will take longer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

get them off earlier by!.!.!.

wear your rubber bands
wear headgear/retainers/or other appliances
don't eat hard candy or hard foods!.
wear a mouth gaurd when playing sports
brush and floss
don't procratinate when making appoitmentsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Listen to the ortho!. instructions!. Brush daily, and don't chew gum!. That's what my grandpa told me!. He's a dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
