Severe dental pain after routine visit?!

Question: Severe dental pain after routine visit!?
11 days ago, I went to a new dentist for a cleaning!. While there, they recommended that the 3 metal fillings I received as a kid be replaced with porcelain fillings!.

Once the novacaine wore off, I realized I was in a ton of pain!.!.!. all the way through my jaw and up to my ear!. Even teeth that hadn't been worked on were sore and almost felt out of place!.

After a few days, I went in for an adjustment!. He filed down the fillings and said that maybe my gums were bruised and to give it another week to see if I was still in pain!.!.!.

That was 5 days ago!. Since then, the pain has only gotten worse!. Even with advil, or excederine, or tylenol almost 24 hours a day, it hurts to chew and the pain keeps me up at night!. Last night the pain got so bad I ended up going to the ER where they gave me stronger pain killers!.

I've tried calling the dentist who did this several times asking for help, but they won't return my calls!. I don't know what to do now, and I have no idea what the problem is!. Help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Were they porcelain inlays or onlays, done over several hours with a Cerac porcelain milling machine, or were they white composite fillings, done directly in your teeth in about an hour!?
Answer this and then I can add more to my post!.

Update!. I never place composite fillings after the hygienist has done her cleaning!. Oil in the prophy paste is supposed to interfere with getting a good bond!.
Your pain from the white fillings could be caused by;
1)The filling is high!. Do any of the fillings feel high when you bite together!.
2)The dentist has gotten too close to the nerve or nerves while removing the old fillings and or decay and this has injured the nerve(s) and they are letting you know!.
3)The composite filling is pulling one side of the tooth towards the other side of the tooth(or teeth)!. Composite shrinks as it is hardened by the light!. If a proper sandwich technique was not used or if too much composite material was cured all at once, then as the material shrinks it pulls the walls of the tooth in!.
4)As said before, with composite fillings, BOND is everything!. I would not have done composite fillings after a prophy (cleaning)!. Did the dentist use a rubber dam to achieve a nice dry saliva free environment!? Everything to do with a white filling is technique sensitive!. How long was the enamel etched by the phosphoric acid!? How long was the dentin etched!? Was it a single etch and bond system, or did they use a better seperate etch and bond system!? Did they do all that properly!?!? If they did not, and a good bond was not achieved, then tubules inside the tooth which have water inside of them will be open, and the movement of that water inside the tubules (which go all the way to the nerve) will result in a pain sensation!.
If I were you I would go back to the dentist right away!. Tell them what is going on!. It certainly sounds like at least one and maybe more nerves might be involved and sadly the next step may be root canals or extractions!.
Question him on how deep were the fillings!. Question him on his technique!. If the pain is getting worse something is wrong!. Hopefully from what I wrote above, you can tell that doing composite fillings properly is not an easy thing to do!.
If this dentist won't return your calls, or see you, you should seek out another dentist for their opinion!. Be prepared to have a lengthy discussion with the first dentist about returning the money you paid for treatment or the cost to fix things up by another dentist!.
Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd say go to the dentist's office and speak to someone in person!. If not, go and see another dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't really know what to tell you but yea I went to see a dentist because I was having severe pain and he said I had a cavity and needed a filling and I should get my wisdom teeth removed!. So I got my wisdom teeth removed and went back to see him, he then gave me a filling, about 7 months ago!. Ever since I have been getting major aches and pains all along my jaw!. He first said I should get a root canal, can't afford it, then he said I think it's just your nerve, then he says it's my sinuses!.!.!.!.I just want the tooth and all the pain to go away!! Dentists are dumb and should have to go through more schooling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to a different dentist!. If the first one messed up, be sure to file a complaint with the state board!. It seems to me the guy didn't know what he was doing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
