How long can I wait after a root canal before getting a crown??!

Question: How long can I wait after a root canal before getting a crown!?!?
I had an infection in my jaw following my root canal!. The endodontist thought a crack in the root is possible!. but we won't be able to tell unless the infection comes back!. The dentist however, wants to put a crown on!. I don't want to put that kind of money into it if it's just going to have to be extracted 6 months down the road!.!.!.
Hopefully I'll get some knowledgeable answers!.!.!. After I told the dentist the concern he said the tooth will get brittle if I don't get the crown, so it's up to me when to come and get it done!.
Thanks for your help! ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi, if you have had root canal treatment done then wait a few months to ensure there is no remaining infection!. Up to 6 months is not unreasonable!. However, I agree with your dentist that the tooth is weaker and more liable to fracture, however it would be unwise to have an expensive crown done and then have problems from the root treatment!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tough call!. I've been getting alot of complicated Dental Work done lately Myself, -so I KNOW where You're "coming from!.!.!." Tell You what I'D do!.!.!. -I'd WAIT until July to see if the Infection returned!.!.!. If it HASN'T, then go ahead & get that Crown!. Crowns are just TOO EXPENSIVE these days- to risk having to throw Your $$$ away!. Good luck! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
