Definitely ask your orthodontist as soon as you can!. But here's my unprofessional opinion: I'd wear them at night for as long as your retainer is in good condition (meaning forever, if you can!)!.

The reason being, after enduring braces for 3 years, my own teeth got a lot worse after I thought I was done with my retainer!. They're better than they were before the braces, but if I had the money, I'd get braces again to correct the damage!.

My sister wore her retainer at night for 10 or so years after getting her braces removed, then she either lost or broke her retainer, and her teeth shifted to being a little more crooked!. I remember my ortho telling me (years ago when I was a teen) that the bones in your jaw have "memory" where they will try to shift your teeth back to their original position, before the braces!. Of course, they won't be able to revert to their original crookedness after the bones regrow and your teeth are straightened, but without the retainer, there will be some change, even years later!.

So, sorry for my long answer!. LOL Short answer: wear your retainer at night as long as you possibly can!Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's better to use it at night every night, 3 years is more than enough for dayWww@Answer-Health@Com

mizpriz3 made some good points!.

Ultimately you should wear the removable retainer as long as you want to keep your teeth straight!.

There's no formula that if you wear it x number of years you're free & clear!. Some people will wear it religiously for 10 years, figure it's enough, stop and they'll have some relapse!. Some won't wear it at all and their teeth will stay put!. The trouble is, there's no way of knowing who those lucky ones are!. Teeth always want to shift and if you still have wisdom teeth waiting to erupt, all bets are off!.

With all that you went through to get them straight, how hard is nighttime wear!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
