Hi god when I first got mine, I couldnt keep it in for more that 3 seconds as it made me gag, I did get used to it but could never eat with it!.

It was annoying when I was at school but it was only out for like half an hour and then I put it back in, I use to have packed lunches and I kept a box in my box to put my retainer in when I was eating, no one noticed me take it out or put it back in!.
The if I had normal dinner I used to just do it under the table and put it in a box in my bag, I use a false teeth box lol to keep it in and put it back in once I had finished!.

It wont stop your retainer working as it not out for long enought, so yep it fine, I had mine 4 2 years and it worked for me!.

Also I got really bad chapped lips because of my retainer, Blistex is the best cream for them as it heals then and prevents them drying out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you're finding it really difficult then yes take it out when you eat! Just make sure you put it straight back in after you've finished and make sure you where it in bed!.!.!. otherwise you're teeth will keep moving and eventually your retainer won't fit with your mouth!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I hope you didn't hear him right and that he said to only take them out when eating!. I may have never heard of this but bacteria and food will get in and around the retainers requiring you to take them out to clean them!. This probably requires and expert to answer it but I would check with the ortho's office to see if you heard him wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you don't want to get food lodged under your retainer anyway!. That isn't healthy!.
Take your retainer out while eating, and put it back immediately after eating!. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR RETAINER!. The LAST thing you want to do is to accidentally throw your retainer out on your lunchtray, and have to go rooting through bags of school lunch waste, looking for your retainer box!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

God I hated my retainer!. My dentist told me the same thing, as long as you put it back in when you've finished it wont cause any problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
