What sort of age should dental braces stop being used?!
Question: What sort of age should dental braces stop being used!?
I know someone that is 19 or 20 and she wears one still!. I thought it would have been removed before this time!. What's the latest it can be removed!? Haven't the teeth developed by this time!?

Braces can be used at all ages!. The main reason why they are usually placed on children is because a child is still growing!. There for orthodontisc applainces can modify the way the maxilla and mandible(jaw) grow!. When growth modification can be controled the results are usually easier to obtain and less likely to need surgery!. However on mature bone the teeth can still be moved within the jaw by resorption and deposition of bone!. The only problem with this is that it takes longer and you can't change the size and shape of bone like on a child!. So severe case might also need surgery like a "le fort" or BSSO!. Well, it isn't about what age you are when they take them off, but how long they've been on!. I know people who couldn't afford them (myself included) when they were young, so they got them in their 20s or 30s!. Usually they stay on for a year or two, but it depends on your dental situation!. The point is to put braces on after your teeth have developed!. If they put them on before, you may need to get them again later!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Braces can be worn at any age!. Some people don't have the luxury of having them as children and have to wait until they are adults!. And yes, the teeth have developed they ust did not develope as straight as yourfriend wanted and that is why the braces are needed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
