I had braces for 2 years and I did not have to have spacers!. They have different ways of putting on braces some times they put them on one by one and others they make this clear retainer thing of your teeth and put the brackets in it the clean your teeth and put glue on them and slide the retainer thing on then they pull it off that's how i got mine put on!. it did not hurt while they were doing that but when they put the wires on they scratched the inside of my mouth!. and after that the next day it felt like all my teeth were going to fall out!. but it is really worth it i had an impacted K-9 and if i didn't get braces i would have a fake tooth in its place!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and i think they are cute so keep smiling also i did not have the capsor bands on my back teeth i had brackets on all of themWww@Answer-Health@Com

It doesn't hurt at all, I got my braces put on yesterday!. But after a day your mouth starts to get a bit sore, and it's hard to chew anything!. They dry your mouth out all the way, then they have your braces in a tray!. They push the tray onto your teeth and then make sure the braces are sticked on!. Then they take out the tray and put on the wires!. Then they snip the wires and your done! I personally didn't think that it hurt all that much!. Right now my mouth is hurting a bit (a day after)!. But if you just take an advil then it will go away!. I hope this helps ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Other than having your mouth open for a while, it won't really hurt!. You will be sore afterwards!. As far as spacers go, it really depends on whether they are banding your molars!. All orthodontists have different treatment approaches!. Spacers are generally only required when they band (this is a bracket attached to a thin metal band that surrounds the tooth) the molars!. All brackets & bands are cemented into place with a translucent glue!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First they put their "glue" on the brackets so they will stay on!. Then they carefully place the brackets on your teeth, one by one!. When they are done they will put what looks like a blow dryer on each bracket, so it will dry!. Then they will put the wires through your brackets!. This is what gets your teeth straight!. Without them, your brackets will just sit there! It will hurt the first time because it's putting so much pressure on your teeth!. But you will get used to it!. Then the put the rubber bands on your brackets!. The rubber bands keep the wire in place!.
Yes, will will be sore for a few days, but in the end, it will all pay off! Oh yeah, the "glue" is disgusting! Drink Sprite, and it will go away!.
They will probably tell you not to eat/drink colored foods/drinks for 6-24 hours!. That is because the glue takes about 24 hours to fully dry, and you don't want colored glue! That would be disgusting! Yeah, it'll hurt to bit down the first week, so eat some soup or spagettio's!.

And, not everyone needs spacers!. You're lucky! Did you know that spacers are the most painful orthodontic part!? Compared to spacers, braces are no big deal!

Please, please, please remember to brush/floss/rinse everyday!. A Witerpik is very helpful!. A Waterpik is a little nozzle that shoots out water, to get inbetween brackets!. YOu can change the speed!. I reccommend a Wikerpik that has a blue tank with replaceable nozzles!.

You will get your rubberbands and wires replaced every 3 weeks or so!.

:)
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok!. i just got mine off!. first, they glue on these metal things (brackets) that hold the wires!. then they put the wires on!. then they put these rubber things to hold the wire on the brackets!. it doesn't hurt to get them on, though your teeth may be sore the next day or even later that day!. the sore-ness usually goes away after 3 days or so!. then each time you go and they change something (like change the wire, change the colored rubber bands, stuff like that) it may hurt, but not for long!. I had spacers when i got mine, even though my dentist told me i wouldn't need them!. they're just there to make room to fit these metal bands around your back teeth (they help everything stay in place)!. your teeth are probably just spaced farther apart than your friends!. it doesn't hurt to get them off and getting the molds for your retainers isn't that bad!. and, scraping the glue doesn't hurt unless you have a crappy person and they hit your gums!. OUCH! good luck with those (soon to be) straight teeth!Www@Answer-Health@Com

when they're put on they take a bracket and glue it to your teeth- not permanent glue dont worry- and then they thread a wire through all the brackets and put like a really tiny band over the wire and on the bracket which is what you see as the colorful things that are on your friends braces cause they come in many colors- oh and also they put a cap on just the back back molar on each side, i dont know what its exactly for but theyre on when u first get them on and stay on!.

i had braces for 3 years and they hurt sometimes when they adjust them and tighten them but u adjust to themWww@Answer-Health@Com

This answer is long but detailed! Read :)

OK first it doesn't hurt when they put it on! Although it is quite uncomfortable and anoying!. But nothing unbearable!

First they put this metal thing on your back molars; 2 up and two down!. This metal thing is what holds the other metal thing(i forgot the name) that is on top of the bracket!. you know, the metal line!? Sorry but I forgot it! Anyway, after they put that, it's kinda annoying but you get used to it!.

It's not comfortable because afterwards they put something in your mouth to keep it wide open so they put the glue, that way you don't taste the glue (which tastes HORRIBLE!. LOl!.)

They put this dental glue and then they put the bracket!. They wait for it to dry, which takes like 10 or 20 minutes!.

After that they put the metal line i told u about before!. Then it kinda hurts cause that's when you start feeling the pressure on your teeth!.

Then you choose the colours for the bands!.

Also ask for some wax, it really really helps for an annoying bracket!. if they give u wax, then take a piece of wax and put it into a little ball form and then put it on the bracket that bothers u!.

The first day it will feel horrible to eat! I barely ate at all!. It just hurts to bite things!.

The second day will be better and you can eat some things like soup, etc

The third day the soreness is going away!. You can start eating bread, but SOFT bread!.

But for the pain, I mean u just gotta deal with it, every month they will be tightened!. But cold foods and cold beverages really help me!. Sometimes hot soup helps me with the pain!. And BTW u have to keep ur braces very clean ok! That way you can have a good higiene because it is essential to have a good higiene with braces specially when food can get stuck so easily!.

Well its OK if u dont need spacers!. i needed them just to make more space to my mouth!. spacers save you some pain because spacers hurt a lot!. PS, putting on braces takes 2 or 3 hours!.

BEST OF LUCK!!
Dont worry!

They will clean your teeth, put this weird stuff on it then apply a dental glue to a spot then grab the little square!. It doesnt hurt just some pressure for the applying of the square!.
The part that will leave you a bit sore is when they attach the wire, which tightens to the teeth together!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Doesn't hurt AT ALL when they're puuting it on
They use this kind of dental glueWww@Answer-Health@Com
