I have had a toothache for several months, I cannot afford a dentist what do I d!

Question: I have had a toothache for several months, I cannot afford a dentist what do I do!?
Part of the issue is my bridge which I dont wear unless going out to avoid further pain!. The bridge has metal and a tooth I can 'click' out!. I received this about 5 years ago!. That was the time of my last check-up!. Not only is it a tootache, my gums are sore at times!. When I brush my teeth, there is blood!.

No, I do not have insurance!. I have been getting by all these months because I try to relieve the pain with orajel, aleeve pain killers and tea bags but that only temporarily relieves the pain (plus even though Orajel works I go through a tube in 4-6 days)!.!.!.the toothache only comes in the evenings or when I eat something on the wrong side of my mouth!. I usually only chew on my left side and now its starting to hurt really bad!.

I know I need to see a dentist but I cannot afford it! I have no money nor do I have insurance!. What are my options!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I"ll expand on the dental clinic answer a bit!.
United Way has clinics in all the big cities that include dental, cost is based on your income!.

With something that has gone on so long, you are risking a serious, life threatening infection!. You really need to find a low cost dental clinic and get it taken care of!.

Call 211 on your local phone!. This is a free call for all United Way services!.

First of all my humble suggestion to you is stop wearing that prosthesis!. Before your looks comes your health!. Your gums are under constant irritation because of that prosthesis!. My primary advice to you at this moment is going to be, keep the areas in your oral cavity clean, out of any kind of irritation, consume cold things and avoid hot stuffs!. This might just provide you with temporary comfort but ultimately I will say that please do something and visit a dentist!. Wish you all the best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to the dentist!. If you get an infection through your teeth, it can actually kill you!. When you go, ask them if you can get on a payment plan (a friend of mine did this in college), so you can make affordable payments!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can buy a 'soft' toothbrush for 'sensitive' teeth and there are some toothpastes like Sensodyne that are for sensitive mouths!. Could you maybe get some dental help thru your local County Health!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not sure what state you live in, but in California we have county health facilities that have a dental office!. It's like $40 for a visit, and if you are unemployed, they won't even charge you!. If you need complicated dental work, they may not be able to do it!. But, they can usually refer you to a dentist on their roster that will work something out with you!.

Google the name of the county you live in, along with County Health Services or County Health Facility!. Example: "County of Orange Health Services" or "County of Orange Health Facility"!. See what comes up!. Call the county location if it comes up and ask if they have a dentist, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As for the bridge, if it is the cause of pain, do not wear it unless you need it to eat!. However, if there's more issues going on, and there very well may be after 5 years, without treatment you could end up needing a root canal, loosing the tooth, or worse yet, loosing bone in your jaw and then you'd have no teeth and a sunken jaw!. Sore gums and bloody brushing/flossing, if it's not the bridge area, could be just poor cleaning habits--try an electric toothbrush and learn the proper way to floss and do it everyday!. It's gonna hurt at first and you will continue to bleed but the more you do it the more your mouth will get used to it!. Poor cleaning habits lead to the problems already listed!.

As far as fixing it, you're going to need to see a dentist and I know it's very expensive!. My mother doesn't have insurance and her dentures caused her much pain because they were poorly made but it's something she just had to get fixed!.

1!. Turn to your larger social network of friends and family and see if anyone at all is related to a dentist or knows one that could give you a discounted rate or maybe check your mouth for free just to tell you how bad it is and what you can do!.

2!. If you can afford it, you might be able to go to another country where dental care is cheap and the overall cost would be cheaper (including travel) then seeing a dentist close to you!. I know people WITH insurance in America who go to Mexico because it's cheaper even though their insurance doesn't cover it!. I've heard of people in England going to Poland!.

3!. Is it at all possible for you to find a job that will provide some insurance!? Even if it's not your dream job or full-time, sometimes we have to do these things for the insurance!.

4!. No matter what, save your money for treatment!. This can mean cutting out some things and living very basic!. I think that teeth are just about the most important part of your body to keep healthy since you have to eat everyday and the pain can be constant!. That's why no matter how tough times may be, I still try to repair them because it'll just get worse and end up costing me more money or physical damage!. The worst though are poorly skilled dentists who make matters worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

OK!.!.here's the straight information!. You must not wear an appliance on a "sometime" basis!.!.the reason being is that inevitably teeth will shift and a sometime dental appliance is more likely to damage both teeth and gum tissue than provide a positive service!. A dental appliance that doesn't properly fit and function can actually cause you to loose teeth!.!.!.!.!.NOW, about the money issue!.!.!.Get yourself to the nearest "Dental College"!.!.!.dental schools operate an "Out Patient Clinic" and those clinics provide very good dental services to the public and best of all, their fees run between "Free and very Low cost", depending on your financial situation!. Or, check with your local hospitals and find out if any one of them operates a Dental Internship Program!. If one does it to will provide Free to low cost dental services, again based on your financial situation!.!.!.!.Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
