I had the lap band put on with BCBS - I had to go to exercise first for 6 months and prove it even being overweight 100 lbs!., and to go to someone to talk for the reason I gained all this weight in the first place!. Then I had the the primary doctor write a letter and the lap band doctor that is was necessary and life threatening!.!.!.!.then I had the surgery - it was approved finally - seemed like forever - you really only get to eat a few teaspoons of food - and you really need to train yourself for no more food or other problems arrive - i lost 50 lbs in 4-6 months and then the band slipped and I had to go back and I had them take it out because of my age 57 and I didn;t want more surgery if it happened again !.!.anything over a few teaspoons at a time and you will be throwing up and then the band can slip overtime!. There is no miracle drug or operation - get your head on straight - use your hands for something more useful then eating and eat healthy - because you have to do this the rest of your life - and most of it is mental anyways - good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
hillcr22, sometimes it is a necessay procedure!. My sister in law had it done and her insurance paid!. She was 150 pounds overweight and chronic diabetic!. But, her daughter had it done also, and their insurance did not pay!. It depends on your medical condition and if your obesity is life threatening!. Like breast reduction!. I had a br done in 1999 and my insurance paid!. The only thing to do is talk to your primary physician, and then call the insurance company and find out!. Good luck!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
I doubt it!.!.!. Unless there is a doctor saying this is a medical necessity and needed to keep you alive into the future, they probably would consider it a cosmetic surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
