Okay, so today i went to the orthidontist and i got my wire tightened and since i dont like my headgear and never wear it
i got elastics and they put in a chain
MY TEETH HURT LIKE CRAZY ! :(
TIGHTENING
CHAIN
AND ELASTICS !
what do thee elastics do !? will they work faster than headgear!?
annnd, what does the chain do!.
I have an overbite by the way, and spaces in my teeth!.
the chain is on my TOP teeth
(thee pointy tooth to the other pointy tooth) i think thier called
canine teeth or somthing lol!.
what can i take for the pain !?!
ive taken 2 advil and 1 tynenol (so thier mixed now) because i didnt wait long!.
im 13 years old

I know how you feel all the way trust me, because I just got my braces tightend and chains and also elastic and it hurt to eat anything and it hurt just to do anything!.!.!.And they said that my elastics will correct my underbite (Also used for overbite)!.!.!.But I'm not sure if the headgear works faster or not, I bet it dose but the only reason they gave you the elastics is because you won't wear the headgear!.!.!.But I don't blame you it sounds painful!.!.!.And the chains pull your teeth togather because I also had gaps in my teeth!.!.!.And the only thing I can tell you is to wait for the right time to take more Advil because like that's what I took!.!.!.Even though I wish it took the pain away completely but of course it doesn't!.!.!.I wish i could help more about the pain but I need to know that answer myself!.!.!.Lol!.

i currently am wearing braces ( i am 14) and I went through the same hell as you!. I had Head gear elastics and i just got my braces on!. IT HURT LIKE HELL!!! So what kind of helped was just chewing (sugar-free) gum because it helped my teeth get used to the pain!. It hurts at first but your teeth will feel alot better once they are toughening up!. In a couple weeks it won't hurt anymore too, so I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I've been through that plenty of times!. The best thing you can do is take pain meds, which you already did, take a nap (throbbing usually is gone after you wake up), eat something cold like a smoothie or ice cream to numb up the pain, or put ice packs on your cheeks!. Also your ortho might have given you some gel called orajel that numbs your gums if you have a lot of pain!. You can do it!!! I survived 3 years of pain with braces, and let me tell you it payed off! im not sure about the elastic,but the chain helps your teeth more straitened faster!.but about the pain,i just took a tylonol every once and a while when it started hurting and it workd pretty good!.i know it hurts,ive been through the same thing when i was 13 and i had a overbite!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I know EXACTLY what you're going through! I never wore my headgear either and I had to suffer! What I did was take two advils and I did what that kid above said, I chewed gum (not sugar free though) I chewed on bubbalicious(sp) because their bigger and it eased the pain a lot more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Well my sis has the chain!. But all it dose is make your teeth get straight and stay straight!. but it is better looking then the Headgear!. so its a win win probumWww@Answer-Health@Com
