Why are my teeth shifting (becoming crooked again) even though I've been wea!

Question: Why are my teeth shifting (becoming crooked again) even though I've been wearing my retainer!?
I wore braces about three years, then had a permanent retainer put on my bottom row of teeth which I wore for about 2 years!. The dentist removed it two weeks ago and gave me a plastic retainer I can take in and out of my mouth!.

( i think it's one of those invisaline ones, NOT the kind with the metal and the plastic part!. This one looks like my teeth and fits over them)

I noticed the retainer felt kind of loose when I first got it, like when I'd talk, it would come unhooked from my teeth!.

Now, my bottom row is starting to become crooked again!. I'm really upset!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just calm down!. They will be OK!. The same thing has happened to my teeth!. I have a permanent retainer on the bottom and top ones!. When I got my braces off they were perfect but now my front left tooth has started to move!. I have been back on at least 7 occasions to the orthodontist & all he keeps doing is putting more glue on the brackets!. He also gave a retainer to wear at night which results in the teeth been exactly straight in the morning but come lunchtime when i am having a can of pop I could hang a coat from it because it sticks out a good bit!. I was wityh him again last week & he said I will see you in 6 months!. I was thinking to myself that it is more likely 6 hours mate!. The thing is that I am going to be going to Ibiza in a few weeks so I reckon that I will spend most of the time chewing the mouth of myself so I am going to go back to the orthodontist & tell him to put my braces back on for good!. You really would miss those little brackets!. Since I got them taken off my life has not been the same!. Yeah I have made up my mind that I want them on for the rest of my life!. I hope you get yours sorted!.

Hey i had teh same problem, go back to the dentist asap, before it gets worst, i think it should be free, since its their error!.!.!.they can probabaly tighten it up

but go now cuz if u wait they will get crooked, and all the money and time that was invested into that yea, its sux 3 years of braces i had 2 it sucked!.!.!.

Sounds like the retainer was not tight enough!. It should be really snug fitting - almost painful (like your braces were when you got them tightened)!. Give your dentist a call and tell them whats happening, ask them to give you a tighter retainer!. They shouldnt charge you extra for this because its technically their fault!. Dont put it off another day, call them straight away otherwise its all that time, pain and 'braceface' for nothing!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have this problem also!. I have a lot of collegian in my body and so they shift easily!. Wear your retainer or a regular basis so you wont have to have braces again like it did and now my enamel is damaged!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should just ask for the permanent retainer again!.!.!. my orthodontist told me he has had his permaninat retainer for over 8 years now!.!. and its better then the regular retainer!.!.!. you wont have to worry about this very problem!.!.!. im getting my braces in 3 weeks so im kinda looking forward to that!.!.!. my teeth arnt that bad but my ortho says i need them!.!.!. he also explained the retainer situation for me after i remove my braces (which would be in 2 years!.!.!.) and he advised me to get the permenanet retainer!.!.!. its more expensive but its worth it, cause as you get older your teeth naturally shift on its own!. The retainer prevents that from happening!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The vacuum formed retainer you are wearing is not tight enough!. You should be able to wear it while talking without it moving!. If they have the model they used to make the retainer they can make a new one that will force the teeth back into position!. If not, the dentist may need to put a few brackets back on to straighten them out again and then put a fixed retainer back in place!. There won't be a charge because you paid for the orthodontic work already!. Call the dentist ASAP!. I am a dental assistant and we do a lot of Otho work in our office!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
