Question: Can I use regular toothpaste to bruysh my baby's teeth!?
Answers:
Hi! I'v been in dentistry for over 20 years and I do not recommend you do this!. The most important reason is that the gum tissue is very tender and fragile!. Using a brush can be too harsh!. Try this!. You can buy small finger clothes that go over you finger like a tiny washcloth and gently rub the teeth after wetting with warm water!. As time goes by you can use a tiny bit of toothpaste for children that has fluoride and repeat!. Do this until you child gets use to this and is not afraid!. You also can cause a gag reflex with a brush and the child will get upset and not want to do it again!. As the child get older, you can buy a VERY soft brush for small children and slowly introduce the brush by alternating with the brush and finger washes!. Please go slow!. Some people don't realize how upsetting this can be and once the child gags, they become afraid!. When your child is older, you can brush YOUR teeth first and let them watch!. Make a game about it!. Sing a song, clap your hands and praise them!. Once you set a good hygiene pattern, the child will do this more often and want to do it themselves with you watching carefull they do not put the brush down there throat!. YOU must use caution, go slow and in time, they will love it!. Remember, praise, sing, and make a game of it!. Some children's toothpaste has a more pleasant taste and you can change around until you find one they like!. Get into a routine of doing this at least twice a day so it becomes a life long habit!. Also ask your peditirican about flouride vitamins as soon as they are able to chew them!. Do that last thing at night!. This will protect the teeth and prevent cavities!. Keep up the good work and concern for you baby!. You sound like a terrific Mom and I am proud of you!. If you have any other questions, ask for Marie D!. ~MWww@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't!. there are ingredients in regular toothpaste that you used that may be too strong for your baby!. If you go to the store they make toothpaste for babies!. Otherwise contact your doctor and ask him what is best to use!. But I would definately not used regular toothpaste yet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can just brush the baby's teeth without any toothpaste, otherwise, there are toothpaste for babies!. babies tend to swallow anything you put in their mouth and their are ingredients in adult toothpaste that should not be swallowed by babies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i wouldn't reccomend it!. babies tend to swallow things that go in thier mouths, go with a flouride-free toothpaste!.
