Do they have to put you under general anesthesia to get your wisdom teeth out?!

Question: Do they have to put you under general anesthesia to get your wisdom teeth out!?
I have to get my wisdom teeth out and they were going to make me go to sleep for it!. Im very afraid of anesthesia and would probably much rather have my whole mouth numb to get my teeth taken out!. I only have three wisdom teeth and they are all partial!. Only one of them broke through the gum so far!. Can I have local anesthesia!? I know people have, so why do I have to have general!? Or do they assume that's what you want!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had all 4 taken out yesterday and 2 of them were impacted (meaning that they are growing towards my other teeth and not strait out!.!.!.they needed to make an incision, break the teeth, then pull them out)!.!.!.
i had just a few injections inside my mouth to numb the entire area!.!.!. and was awake during the surgery, which is apparently better because when they put you to sleep, the dentist can pull harder/not take that much care, meaning the recovery process is more painfull!.!.!.
believe me, if I was able to go through this, anyone can, i'm the biggest chicken when it comes to that kind of stuff!.

Either way, you should discuss your fears with your dentist, they know the must stuff! :)
hope i helped!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can have it done under local if you want, but you will probably find it very unpleasant, especially as they are impacted and they are recommending you have general!. At least have sedation if you don't want general!.

I had gas a few times under 18 and it was scary the first time (I was 6!) but really it's fine!. I got this sweet pong and then within a second or two everything was a blur!. Then I seemed to wake as soon as it started!. Much preferred it to all those injections in the gums!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

General anesthesia is used if they're removing all the wisdom teeth at once!. It would take multiple injections to numb the teeth in your mouth and it's simpler (and faster) for the oral surgeon to make an incision and remove the tooth while you're under general anesthesia!. They can remove all 3 teeth and stitch you up, and it's all finished before you know it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If they're partial and still below the gums, you're definitely going to want to be asleep for it!. If you're just numbed up you're going to feel every bit of pressure and breaking and cutting and!.!.!.!.sorry!.!.!. :(

I'm afraid of anesthesia too, but I went under for my wisdom teeth!. I'd say it's worth it!. Just make sure you follow the fasting rules so you're not too woozy/queasy when you wake up!.

If you're asleep for it, the procedure will be a whole lot easier for both you and the dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think they use general anesthesia because wisdom teeth are pretty hard to get out!. With mine, they had to crack the teeth and pull them out in pieces - I don't think they could have foreseen doing this, so they do it more as a precaution!.

I'm not 100% sure about this, you should probably talk to your doc!. about it, see if there are alternative methods!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

My daughter at 15 had 3 wisdom teeth (all she had) removed they were embedded in jaw bone she did not have anesthesia!. She was medicated and numbed!. She did great and had very little pain after or bleeding!. Our dentist does not do the anesthesia type!.!.!.but he is very quick and very goodWww@Answer-Health@Com
