If you tend to bite on that area of your tooth, do you feel pain!? If yes, do take an xray, so your dentist can rule out if you need a root canal therapy or just restorations/ fillings!.

a small cavity that you would see outside your tooth at times indicate a deeper penetration of caries/ bacteria inside the tooth!. Are you sure that it is the only thing you observe unusual in your tooth!?

Here are some scenarios that can cause tooth sensitivity:

1!. recession of your gums
- gums are more in a lower level compared to the adjacent teeth exposing a part of your teeth!.
2!. cracks on your teeth
3!. abrasions on your teeth

you can also try sensodyne toothpaste!. and see if it will relieve your sensitivity!. If not, consult your dentist to see if you need a filling or a root canal treatment!. :)

You'll have to go to the dentist in order to know for sure!.

I had a tooth with a cavity that was INCREDIBLY sensitive to hot and cold temperatures!.!.

So I went in to get it fixed, thinking it would either be pulled or have to get a root canal!.!.!.but it was fine, just needed a filling!.
Another one, however, DID need either a root canal or a cap!.!.!.and that tooth wasn't even bothering me!. Some teeth have more sensitive nerves than other, so you won't know just by guessing!.

Have fun at the dentist! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

no, it doesn't neccessarily mean you need one, but you should go to the dentist and get it checked out!. when i needed a root canal, i had symptoms like spontaneous pain in that tooth, and pain when biting down on it!. usually cavities are sensitive to cold, so it sounds like you probably don't need oneWww@Answer-Health@Com

A cavity or sensative tooth won't usually lead to a root canal!. The dentist might take an xray to check, but most problems are above the gum!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
