Is my dentist stupid or am I special?!
Question: Is my dentist stupid or am I special!?
I went for my first dental exam in like 2 years today!. The guy seemed very professional and thorough!.
However, when he was dictating his exam results to the assistant I heard him say, "No missing teeth!." I corrected him because I had a baby tooth removed once and there was no tooth underneath!. I have kept all my wisdom teeth and all my molars on that side just eventually scooted forward, so there is no gap there anymore!.
He seemed not to believe me at first, but then he looked again and you can tell that I am missing one of the smaller teeth behind my canine, and that it's been replaced by a larger molar!. He said "Wow, the gap closed up all by itself!? You must have really good genes!."
Yet I am googling it now and I seem to be getting information that says this is normal!. But I know my mom's gap, from having an adult tooth removed, has not closed for years!. What's the deal, all you experienced dentists out there!?

He's probably not stupid (you don't get through dental school without a bit of intelligence!) but overlooked that missing tooth!.
Usually when a tooth is missing the tooth behind it doesn't move forward and sit exactly right, it tilts, so it's easier to tell there's something up!. It can also be difficult to tell which teeth are missing sometimes (eg!. if you have a 1st molar extracted but the 2nd and 3rd are in place, they may think you have a 1st and 2nd but the 3rd is missing)!.
Having the gap closed up exactly right is a little unusual!. Of course, there's also an element of your dentist covering up a mistake when he said you must have great genes (not that you don't, of course :) )Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not a dentist, but it sounds like yours might be a little!.!.!.dumb!. My sister had the same thing as you happen and her gap closed up all on it's own!. The same thing with my grandmother!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
