I had braces in my late teens and wore my retainers for years after having my braces removed!.
I then stopped wearing them and after I had my wisdom teeth removed, my teeth shifted!.
I then went back, at the age of 40, to get Invisalign for some minor adjustments!. I now wear my retainers every single night!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes and no!.
I have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth that was glued on after i got my braces off!.
But i dont wear my top one any more because it got really nasty (even with thorough cleanings daily) and they wouldnt give me a new one!.!.!. they don't bother me about wearing it when i go in for my semi annual cleanings though, and my teeth havent shifted (even with my wisdom teeth coming through)Www@Answer-Health@Com
