The only thing I can think of is that bacteria is introduced into the blood stream during tooth cleaning at the dentist, if there is any gum inflammation and bleeding involved!. Usually there is!. This bacteria circulating in the blood stream might not be desirable in donated blood, and could be harmful to the recipients!. I thought of this because I have a heart valve problem, and until recently I had to take antibiotics a few hours before and a few hours after a cleaning!. That was to kill any strep germs that would get into my blood stream from the cleaning, because they tend to attack heart valves that have existing damage!.
