Are 99% of dentists frauds?!

Question: Are 99% of dentists frauds!?
or is it just 99% of them!? I have had several incidents over the last several years that really make me think it is about 99% of them!.

e!.g!. Go to one dentist for a long time and never need any work!. He gets a nice new office and all of a sudden, I need lots of work!.

Go to one dentist and they say I need a bunch of work, go to another and they say I need nothing!.

Someone I know went to a dentist and were told they had 4 cavities!. He had three of them filled, but never made the appointment for the fourth!. Went back to the SAME dentist a year later for a checkup and the dentist said he had no problems!. I guess the tooth just healed itself!.

Anybody else have similar experiences!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The dental profession is just like any other profession!.

You go to 10 different dentists, you will get 10 different opinions!.
Go to 10 different lawyers, you get 10 different opinions!.
Go to 10 different plumbing companies, you get 10 different opinions!.

The way that most people end up deciding who is "ripping them off" or is a "fraud" is to pick the one, or ones, who agree with them and who charge the least amount of money, and then they assume that the others are the ones who are wrong or screwing them over!.

I don't want someone, be it a dentist, doctor, lawyer, or plumber, to simply tell me what I want to hear, agree with me, or charge me the cheapest fee!. I want them to give it to me straight!. A cheap dentist can be just as likely to be a fraud as an expensive one!.

I have seen numerous dentists who are not very proactive in patients care, nor do they stress preventative measures!. Who pays for this in the long run!? The patient of course!.

BTW: Yeah, a tooth can heal itself, as long as the cavity wasn't too big to begin with and it was treated with fluoride and began to remineralize!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have not heard of this happening, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility!. You can find frauds in just about every profession!.
There is, however, something you can do if your dentists says that you need work and you are not sure he is telling the truth!. Go to another dentists for a consultation!. Advise them up front that you simply want them to check your teeth and advise if any work is needed!. They would have no motive for lying to you because you will make it clear in advance that you will be getting the actual work done elsewhere!. If they report finding the same problem that the other dentist found, then you know he is telling the truth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

psht!.!.!.tell me about it!. I went in a few weeks ago!.!.!.I was told I have 1 cavity!. Next time I come back (a week later),he tells me I have another one and he said it is very important if I switch all my silver fillings to the white ones!. WHY!? He said it looks better!. Umm!.!.who cares!? It's the back teeth anyway!. Btw!.!.each one of those would have been 800$!!!! Way to rip me off!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First dentist said 2 cavities and to go to this dentist to get them filled!. i show up there the next day and he says none!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I totally believe most dentists are frauds!.

The same thing happened to my uncle -went to the same dentist for years and was told he had no cavities!. Moved so he goes to see a new dentist -guess what he needs lots of work!. So he sees a third dentist -nope needs no work!.

My son has real problems with his baby teeth!. Now when you can see a hole in the enamel then that's a cavitiy -right!? I don't mean a "I think that's a hole" I mean "Damn look how big that whole is" hole!.

Had to get public insurance so I had to see a public health dentist first!. Even though they won't treat kids under three!. Get approved for treatment including fluoride sealant!. I research fluoride sealant!. Fluoride is something I have a lot of questions about, fluoride sealant however seems to work and have an excellent record of safety!.

Go to see dentist (Dr!. R1), he agrees teeth need treatment!. Dr R2 (same last name so brothers one would guess) does the sedation dentistry he makes an appointment for "as soon as possible"!.

No one is listening that it gets worse every day!.

My son falls and the tooth cracks along the cavity (this wasn't a hole this was a ravine across the whole tooth!)!. Its Friday night of a long weekend (duh)!. So son goes to Dr R1 first thing Wednesday!. Dr R1 makes us wait and wait, finally sees us says "I thought the other dentist was filling the cavities"!. Uh hello half his tooth is missing as we told you! Dr R1 looks at it pokes it a bit says "its fine" it isn't causing pain it can wait!. Doesn't need a temporary filling

Three weeks later when Dr R2 is supposed to treat the anesthesiologist comes out -great guy!. Introduces himself, explains the whole thing, etc!. Dr R2 is nowhere!. I actually thought there was only one dentist and that the dentist we had been dealing with was doing the treatment! (Seeing as they have the same name why would I think it was a different guy!?)!. Dr R2 attempts to fix the broken tooth -ha ha!. Tooth breaks!. They do some damage taking it out!. Now there's a front tooth missing which as I have researched (knowing this was not going to go well) can cause speech problems and eating problems!. Remember this is a baby ok he's like 18 months old!. So he is just learning to speak!.

So its "pay up now" or else we have to come back to do a mold for a denture under anesthetic then come back and fit it under anesthetic!. Which is not only risky but damn expensive!. Luckily anesthesiologist is a nice guy and cuts his rate to put the denture in (its "permanent" so its glued to the molars)!. So they fill all the other "cavities" including some I swear don't exist!. ONE month later if that we come to get the denture in and there is an obvious cavity in one of the teeth!. I tell them that this appear like 1 week after we left the last time!. Its beside where the missing tooth is, I think they damaged that tooth when removing the other tooth!. So rather than fill it they shave off the damaged part so it will "remineralize" -which BTW totally worked!. So why did the other invisible cavities need fillings!? The major one I could see that I agree with!.

We need to go back and get reapproved for insurance as I can see a cavity!. That public dentist says "not a cavity" -uh yeah it is!! And the plaque is "soft plaque" and can be brushed off if I were brushing properly!. Nuh huh!. This was shortly after I had given birth!. Hubby had been brushing my sons teeth (as I didn't need to be kicked and hit in the stomach) and hadn't been doing a good job!. I had been doing my damndest to get the plaque off for over a month!.

So about 3 months ago my son falls, the denture gets damaged, and he chips the other front tooth!. So back we got to Dr R1!. He says that the chipped tooth is "fine" its in a "self-cleaning" part of the mouth and doesn't need to be capped!. Uhh yeah that's why that tooth had a cavity as did the one beside it, oh and the one on the other side that is now GONE!.

The denture is damaged so they send it off for repair!. So my son doesn't have it for about a month!. And he is suddenly speaking better!.!.!.huh its supposed to prevent speech problems!. We had also arrange to have his teeth cleaned!. We have to bring this up, we have to ask how much, whether it can be done (it took 5 people to hold my son down to get the denture out) etc!. "Oh yeah it will help a lot"!. What about the sealant its supposed to be put on every 6 months!. Uhh yeah they can do that for "free" with the cleaning!. The cleaning is $40!. Yeah we may not be able to afford $5000 in dental work but we are able and were planning to pay for routine care!. A$$HOLE!

So when the denture is repaired we go in to have it put back in and the cleaning!. The hygeinist thinks she's only cleaning the teeth the denture gets glued to!. We tell her she is supposed to do a proper cleaning on all the teeth!. We argue for awhile!. A diferent hygeinest offers to do it, then the one we had been arguing with says no "she can do it"!. So she does a half assed job!. She doesn't get ANY of the "Soft plaque" off!. So either a) she really didn't do anything or b) I am right and the "soft plaque" isn't going to come off!.

It "doesn't fit" properly!. Actually it fits the exact way it did when it was first in, maybe slightly more out of line!. Dr R1 attempts to take a new mold, says no prop he can make a really fast drying one -didn't work!. So Dr R1 says he doesn't even know why Dr R2 put it in before the 2 year molars erupted as it is "so much easier" to anchor it properly into the molars!. Dr R2 said the molars coming in would push the teeth into the gap!. Causing problems when the adult teeth come it, blah, blah!. At this point it is clear that my son speaks better without it and is mostly ok eating without it so I just don't F&^%ing care!. We complain about the lack of cleaning, and the lack of fluoride, and I point out a cavity -he concurs with the public health dentist -its not a cavity &*^*&^*^* *^*&*&#^*# *^#*&^#!. They do the fluoride but we've been sitting around different parts of the "scary chairs" for 1!.5 hours have missed all of nap time and you can imagine how my extremely phobic son is doing!

We leave

A few weeks ago some nut in their office finds the denture in the file and FREAKS OUT calls us in a panic, the denture has to go in right away or the gap will close, blah, blah, blah!. We tell this person to read the file and/or talk to the dentist and leave us the &^%$ alone! But because they have the denture we have to keep seeing them or else pay about $800 for a new one if we go elsewhere!.

There's more
*the debate over the use of fluoride mouthwash on the soft spot(s) between the three dentists
*Constant harassment for breastfeeding
*Blaming it all on breastmilk even though I threw a stack of studies at them to shut them up!.
*Breastmilk has "no nutritional value" after 6 months!. Hmm doesn't look like water
*Telling us to give him pop or juice before the surgery and being shocked when he wouldn't take it!.
*Conflicting advice on how much surgical fasting is needed, etc

I really, really ******* hate dentists now!. I'm honestly leaving out half the stupidity and that's just in the last YEARWww@Answer-Health@Com
