I have my top left 2nd molar extracted at about 630 this evening!. I left the guaze in and haven't done anything that was on the after care instruction sheet it said not to do!. Anyways, it is still bleeding and I am having to replace the gauze about every 10 mins!. Is this normal or is there a problem!? Also my entire jaw hurts really really really really badWww@Answer-Health@Com

Call your oral surgeon!.!.!. however quit changing the gauze!.!.!.!. what is happening is that your extraction site is trying to heal like it should however you are putting out that blood clot that should stop the bleeding!.!.!. think of it like this!.!.!.!. if you put gauze on a scrapped knee!.!. it starts to scab but then you pull off the gauze and put a new one on it!.!.!.!.!. it bleeds again because you are pulling the formed clot out!.!. This is the reason why i don't give patients gauze to take home because if they don;t know it seems logical to change it every 30 or so minutes!.!.!.!. However since I am not your dentist or physician you still need to visit your dentist for further eval!.!.!.but unless you usually bleed alot when you are injuryed you shouldn't worry to muchWww@Answer-Health@Com

No, it's not normal!.!.if it continues to bleed through the night call the DDS "First" thing in the morning!.!.!.By the way, not knowing your age or other health issues you may have!.!.!.if you take Aspirin on a regular basis that can cause the bleeding to be slow in stopping and if you happen to be on a blood thinner medication the DDS 'Must" be informed immediately about that!.!.!.that means NOW!. Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Call the dentist or oral surgeon NOW!. If you cannot reach them, go to the emergency room of the hospital!. Or call your doctor!. You need professional help now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Warm, very slightly salted water!. Slowly swish it around the entire mouth, including the extraction site!. Dampen a tea bag (non-mints!) and put it over the site!. Do not bite ON it!. Discontinue the gauze!. The other dentist is right - you're ripping out the freshly clotted blood!. What it looks like is kind of soggy yellow pus!.!.!. THAT'S the clot you need to leave in!. Don't worry that it's yellow!. When you bathe/shower with a scabbed over knee or elbow, what happens to the scab!? It becomes yellow!. Your mouth's constantly wet, so it's normal!. Toss out the gauze - all of it!. Do not suck on straws, cigs, hard candy, chew on anything harder than a banana!.

As for the jagged bone sticking out - that's a root tip that broke off!. Usually, the dentist doesn't even see it until YOU tell him about it!. It happened to me before!. The molar was extracted, seemingly intact, then a week later, I felt a bony protrusion developing and I could actually see a pure white 'thing' stuck on the gums!. It'd wiggle when I try to manipulate it but pretty much stuck solidly in there!. My dentist said that while the gums heal, they heal from the bottom and on the inside first, then work its way up!. That's how the root bit was pushed up!. Just let your dentist know and he'll remove it for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
