Question: I went to school for a dental assistant certificate but!.!.!.!?
its hard to get a job without experience!.!.!.
i had a 2 month internship at a dental clinic but its not much!.!.
any tips on how to get hired!?!?!?
when i go to dental clinics to fill out applications
i go very well dressed!.!.!. i have a good resume!.!.
but i don't get any calls for interviews!.!.
do you think its because im a guy!?!.!.
usually dental assistants are girls!.!.
i just dont know what to do!.!.

Are you certified through DANB or is your certificate similar to a diploma that states you passed the course!?
Don't get discouraged, there are plenty of dentists out there that are willing to hire 'entry-level' assistants!. Everyone started somewhere, and everyone was given 'that first chance'!.!.!.!.
Did the school you went to have job placement assistance!?
Did you ask the place that you interned at if they were hiring!? What about your own dentist!?
Try scheduling an interview when you fill out the application, or ask to be interviewed at the time you fill it out!.
I don't think it matters if you're a male!.!.!. there are plenty of female dentists in what used to be a 'males only' world!.

A lot of dentist will hire and train on the job!. I do think that a lot of dentist are reluctant to hire males because assistants are typically females!. The guy I am working for refuses to hire a male, which is wrong!. If they are in fact not hiring you because you are a male and you can prove that then you could actually take legal action against them!. Keep looking, who knows maybe you would have better luck if the doctor were female, I've never worked for a female doctor myself so I don't know how they would feel about a male assistant!.
