Question: Surgeon said he would not do a follow up!?
My daughter just had all four of her wisdom teeth extracted, and when I asked when I should schedule a follow-up the receptionist said that they do not do follow-ups!. My son had a follow-up when he had his wisdom teeth removed!. Should this be cause for concern!? Should I take her to another oral surgeon and have him do the follow up!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello! Please don't worry!. Because the majority of wisdom teeth extraction patients heal satisfactorily on their own, scheduling each person for a follow-up would in most cases just be a social visit!. :o) I work at a university in the Oral Surgery department and we never schedule follow-ups either!. However, as soon as a patient calls expressing concerns we welcome them to return immediately for an evaluation!. I'm sure that office would do the same if you needed them!. It would really depend on the severity of the surgery as to the need for a follow up!. Perhaps her surgery was simple without any sutures, there really is no need for a follow up in this case!. Although if a problem arises, you should contact the OS immediately!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
