Anyone left with bad taste or distorted taste after taking flagyl?!
Question: Anyone left with bad taste or distorted taste after taking flagyl!?
my taste has been affected after taking Flagyl antibiotic for fungal infection!. I have sour, metalic taste in my mouth and taste is distorted!. Had reaction to tablets and 4 days into it stopped taking them!. I developed rash, head aches and bad taste in mouth!. After stopping rash and head aches went but left with distorted and very little taste!. Some food ok ish get a little flavour and other foods tast disgusting!. Milk, mayonaisse and butter, gravy all distorted!. I have tried all sorts to no avail!. Tried medicated mouth wash, milk of thistle, and even treated for sinusitis!. Still no good!.
Wondering should i see a dentist as i have a bad tooth at back of mouth, no pain but its rotten!. Could bad tooth be causing the taste problem!?
Please please help im desperate and will take any advise offered!. Thanks in advance!. michelleWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes!.!.!.!.metronidazole can cause all sorts of side effects, including feeling or being sick, furred tongue, unpleasant metallic taste, upset stomach, skin rashes, headache, darkening of urine, muscle pain and itching!.
You must also avoid any kinds of alcohol with it, as this can exacerbate feelings of nausea and odd taste changes (even red wine sauces can start you off)
Sounds like you are sensitive to *this* particular antibiotic, and it is probably this that is causing the taste - not the tooth!.
However, you need to finish a course of antibiotics to clear up your fungal infection, so go back to your GP and explain - he will simply try you on a different medication!. Lots of people have problems with Flagyl!.
Also, see your dentist before you get a raging abcess in that tooth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
