Sorry, to hear about your extractions!.!.!.but just think your only given 4 wisdoms, so you wont have to experience this again! In regards to the swelling, its hard to say whether you'll still be swollen tomm!. Make sure your taking it extremely easy today, hopefully staying on the couch or in your bed!. You should of been given RX for pain reliever, and antibiotics!. One thing you can do, assuming your not allergic is to take Ibuprofen (approx 600mg) in conjunction with the pain reliever!. The Ibuprofen will help with inflammation & swelling!. Please try and refrain from vomiting!. It is very important, because you could dislodge the blood clots that are forming @ each extraction site, of which are essential to your healing!. Also no smoking (not sure if you do) and DONT drink through a straw! Once again, they can compromise your healing!. You should of been informed to NOT brush for the rest of the day!. Trust me, one day you'll be okay!. Tommorow (roughly 24 hrs following extractions) you can start doing warm salt water rinses several times a day!. Tastes horrible, im not going to lie, but it helps expedite the healing process!. By tomm evening you can brush the majority of your teeth, just be careful as you approach the back, you dont want to tear a suture!. Try and keep your tongue away from the sites also, it has the tendancy to want to explore anything foreign in the mouth!. And finally!.!.!.stick to a soft food diet for the next few days!. Mash potatoes, milk shakes, yogurt, soup!. Nothing too spicey!. Its important that no food gets trapped into the extraction sockets, which is why a soft diet is your best bet!. I hope i answered your questions, good luck!. And congrats on being 4 teeth lighter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Personally I didn't turn in a chipmunk, but it's different for everyone!.

As for food you will gradually work your way up!. Day of the surgery you should still be bleeding and you will have to replace the gauze and gargle salt water in between to help speed up the healing process!.

The next day or two you will work your way up towards yogurt, jello and other cold liquids!.

Gradually you will work towards hot soups, breads, flan or basically anything that you don't neccessarily have to bite down as hard!.

Within a week you will have 4 large holes in your teeth but you can start to cut up food and eat but you have to stay away from nuts, oats and anything that can get stuck in your teeth!.

I hope your healing goes well!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The best kind of food to eat is things like pudding, macaroni, noodles, soup, etc!. Anything soft and easy to eat!. You also need to make sure to swish salt water around your mouth after you eat!. That will help keep the germs and food from entering the fresh cuts!.

Be sure to keep ice on your face diligently for the first 24 hours or so, and your face shouldn't swell!. Thats what I did and my face didn't swell at all!.

Be very careful for the next 6 days by doing the salt water and soft foods b/c otherwise you could develop a dry socket, which would be very unpleasant! That usually happens if you suck out of a straw, eat hard foods, or like I said didn't use salt water!.

Good Luck, I know what your going through, I just had mine pulled a month ago!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow!.!. I remember when I got mine out!. I was 15!.!. sucked!.

I also didn't get all swollen until the next day!.!.then it got BAD!! However, I also got punched in the face about 2 hours after I got mine out, so that MAY have something to do with it!.!. Hmm!.!.

Lol!

Anyway, I had soup & stuff like that, PB&J occasionally, that didn't go too bad so I tryed some grilled cheese, also not bad!.

If you smoke OR if you are on Birth Control: DRY SOCKETS!! WATCH OUT!!

If you are a smoker, pack some gauze into the holes and bite down on them while you take a hit!. DO NOT try to smoke without gauze, it is a dry socket waiting to happen!.!. And those suck!. I had one!.

Birth control: My girlfriend is on B/C, and it sucks for her that the doc didn't tell her that if you use birth control you are most likely going to get one no matter what!.

So with that said, yea!.!.!.Good luck kid!. I know it blows, but ya gotta do it (Most people do atleast!.)

PS!.!. this is from her boyfriend!.!.!.she isn't gay dont worry! haha i know i referenced a "girlfriend" earlier :P

good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

get some listerine even if you cant brush your teeth it will help with the germs!, You will look like a chipmunk if you dont put ice on both sides of your face and eat jello or soft food not anything hard as this could hurt you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi, I'm a 4th year dental student, hope I can help!
The sockets that remain from the extracted teeth should have filled up with blood and clotted now!. It is very important that you do not disturb these clots so they do not start bleeding and so that the area heals properly (just like a graze on your knee, it is an open wound)!.
- Try and eat very soft foods, so you can chew at the front of your mouth and avoid disturbing the clots!.
- Avoid rinsing your mouth vigorously and spitting, as the forces in your mouth from this may also disrupt the clot!. Of course, avoid brushing near the area and any of the sore areas around it!.
- If the any of the clots start to bleed, take a large piece of gauze, roll it into a thick wedge (ideally moistened with a little clean warm salt water) and put it on the clot and bite down!. Keep this in the mouth for 5 to 10 minutes to let it clot again!.
- If the clot doesn't stop bleeding, call the emergency dentist/doctor/hospital!.
- Keeping this area clean is very important to avoid infection, so before you go to sleep take warm glass of salt water (a tablespoon or two of salt) and rinse very gently!. Allow the water to run freely from your mouth so you don't have to spit!. If you ever do need to spit, try and swallow instead!.
- Normally after around 24 to 48 hours the clot becomes relatively solid and rinsing ccan be performed a bit more easily!.

To answer your questions, you may have some swelling especially since you have had all 4 teeth out at the same time! However if the swelling is very painful and you sense a bad taste or smell coming from the healing areas then this may indicate 'dry socket', which is infection!. In which case call the dentist/doctor/hospital!.
If you vomit again, try and rinse lightly with salt water a few times again to try and wash some of the acid away!. If you are vomitting recurrently, I would advise calling the doctor!.
And regarding foods, again just soft stuff for a couple of days until the clot gets a bit harder and less tender!

Hope this helps!.!. I know it's a big read!Www@Answer-Health@Com
